Success Stories: Supreme Welfare in Action
The Education Pillar: Reshma’s Digital Leap
Beneficiary: Reshma (15), High School Student Location: Pimple Gurav, Pune
Reshma's family, displaced during the pandemic, faced immense pressure to pull her out of school to work. Though she was bright, she lagged significantly in the digital literacy required for modern education and job applications. Her family owned no smartphone or computer, making homework and scholarship research impossible. SKF’s Intervention: Reshma enrolled in the SKF’s Digital Literacy Program. By donating just a few hours a week to our remedial center, she received personalized tutoring in basic English and math, and critically, hands-on training in computers and the internet. The Impact: Within six months, Reshma not only caught up on her foundational subjects but excelled in the digital module. She passed her Class 10 board exams with First Division honors, becoming the first member of her family to score over 75%. Most importantly, she secured a scholarship for vocational training in data entry, entirely through an online application she completed herself.

The Environment Pillar: The Green Oasis of Krishna Chowk
Challenge: Local Biodiversity & Urban Heat Location: Krishna Chowk, Pimple Gurav (A high-density, concrete-dominated pocket) Krishna Chowk suffered from severe air pollution, high summer temperatures (the "Urban Heat Island" effect), and frequent soil erosion during the monsoons due to a complete lack of green cover. Local residents felt disconnected from nature, and children lacked safe, clean play areas. SKF’s Intervention: SKF partnered with the local RWA and youth volunteers to transform a neglected patch of public land. We initiated a drive to plant 200+ native saplings, focusing on species like Neem, Peepal, and local fruit trees known for their hardiness and cooling effect. The Impact: The project demonstrated the power of collective effort: Climate Resilience: The new green patch has reduced the ambient temperature in the immediate vicinity and drastically improved local air quality. Community Ownership: Through our Green Guardian program, 35 local residents took responsibility for watering and maintaining the saplings, achieving a 90% survival rate in the first critical year. Biodiversity: The area is now a small green oasis, attracting birds and providing a clean, cool microclimate that benefits the health of all residents. "We never thought this barren patch could be green. SKF gave us the trees, but more importantly, they gave us the knowledge and the responsibility. Our children can breathe cleaner air here now. The Health Pillar: Sunil’s Early Detection
Beneficiary: Sunil Kadam (48), Daily Wage Worker Location: A construction labor camp on the outskirts of Pune Sunil had been suffering from constant fatigue and blurred vision for over a year but couldn't afford to take a day off work to visit a distant government hospital. He dismissed his symptoms as normal "old-age weakness," putting his life and family's income at risk. SKF’s Intervention: Sunil attended the 15th SKF Free Community Medical Camp held directly within his labor camp. The multi-specialty team performed basic screenings:
During the screening, the physician noted his blood pressure was dangerously high, and his blood sugar reading indicated severe, undiagnosed Type 2 Diabetes. The Impact: The camp provided Sunil with free initial medication and an urgent referral to a public hospital. SKF volunteers facilitated his follow-up visit. Because of the early diagnosis (made possible through the consistent medical camp effort), Sunil avoided a potential stroke or kidney damage. He now manages his condition with diet and medication, retaining his health and his ability to work. "If the doctors hadn't come to our camp, I would have collapsed one day, and my family would have starved. SKF didn't just give me medicine; they gave me a second chance at life and protected my family's future."
